Uruguay's DJ Scene Is Peaking Quietly — and the Top Two Are Just 8 Points Apart
By Sasha Volkov·July 31, 2026

Uruguay rarely dominates the global electronic-music conversation, but the DJ Radar board tells a different story: seven artists from the country currently hold rankings, spanning house, tech house, hard dance, melodic house & techno and electronica. It's a compact scene, but a genuinely varied one — and at the top, it's a race.
An 8-point duel at the summit
Luciano Supervielle leads the country with a credit score of 668, built on 5,526 votes. His reach backs up the ranking: 34,815 monthly Spotify listeners, 25,672 Spotify followers, 39,000 Instagram followers and 42,685 listeners on Last.fm. In a scene where most profiles count audiences in the hundreds or low thousands, those are standout numbers, and they make him Uruguay's clear flagbearer for house music.
But he isn't running away with it. Marcelo Demarco, the country's top tech house name, sits just behind at 660 — an 8-point gap — with 4,989 votes of his own. Demarco's profile reads like a working DJ's résumé: 29 festival appearances logged, 13,352 Instagram followers, and a presence spread across SoundCloud, Mixcloud, YouTube and Resident Advisor. Two artists from the same house family, eight points apart at the top of a national board — that's as close as these races get.
The harder edge
Third place belongs to Lila Tirando a Violeta, and she's arguably the most distinctive entry on the list. While the top two work within the house family, she ranks with hard dance as her main genre — a score of 560 from 1,816 votes, with 4,358 SoundCloud followers, 13,832 Last.fm listeners, 690 Resident Advisor followers and 15 festival appearances. Her RA following is the largest of any Uruguayan artist on the board, a signal of traction with the club-culture crowd specifically.
The chasing pack
Another tight margin appears mid-table. Marcelo Castelli, Uruguay's melodic house & techno representative, scores 455 on 1,488 votes, with his audience concentrated on SoundCloud (3,556 followers) and Last.fm (5,817 listeners). Right behind him is Caminauta at 447 — again, just eight points back — flying the flag for electronica with 1,284 votes.
Electronica, in fact, defines the bottom half of the board. Diego Maciel ranks sixth with a 375 score and 1,115 votes, and Pedro Restuccia rounds out the seven at 346 with 796 votes. Their platform footprints are small for now, but their presence matters: three of Uruguay's seven ranked DJs work in electronica, suggesting the country's experimental lane is deeper than its follower counts alone would indicate.
Why it matters
What makes Uruguay's board compelling isn't raw scale — it's shape. A house heavyweight and a festival-hardened tech house act locked in an 8-point contest at the top. A hard dance artist with real Resident Advisor pull in third. Two women — Lila Tirando a Violeta and Caminauta — in the top five. And an electronica undercurrent filling out the list. For a country with seven artists on the board, that's an unusually complete picture of a scene: competitive at the top, stylistically broad underneath, and worth watching before the rest of the world catches on.
