Two Dialects, One Low End: Inside DJ Radar's Bass Leaderboard
By Theo Lindqvist·October 22, 2026

Bass is the broadest umbrella in electronic music, and DJ Radar's current rankings show how wide it stretches. Out of 2,108 DJs on the board, the eight who lead the bass family come from three different main genres: dubstep, drum & bass and breakbeat. The family name says what connects them: music built from the low end up.
Here is who is on top, and what the order tells us about the sound.
Skrillex, clear at the top
Skrillex holds No. 1 with a credit score of 954, a 39-point lead over second place. That is the widest gap between any two neighbours in the top eight. It is wider, in fact, than the 38 points separating second from eighth.
The rest of the profile backs it up: 14,949 votes, 20,557,584 Spotify monthly listeners and 12,094,173 Instagram followers. This lead looks settled, not fragile.
A British block in the middle
Positions two through five belong entirely to UK acts.
Fatboy Slim, the only breakbeat name in the top eight, sits second on 915. The profile has real depth: 6,914,657 Spotify monthly listeners and 2,619,287 Last.fm listeners. In this group, only Skrillex's 2,957,022 is higher on Last.fm.
Sub Focus is third on 900, and the vote counts here are almost identical: 8,004 for Fatboy Slim, 8,002 for Sub Focus. They are two votes apart but 15 points apart, because rank on this board follows credit score, not raw vote totals.
Fourth goes to Chase & Status on 896, despite 7,579 votes, the lowest total in the top eight. Andy C completes the drum & bass run in fifth on 882, with 7,728 votes and 799,411 Spotify monthly listeners.
The Andy C placement is a useful reminder that this is not a streaming chart. ILLENIUM, one place below, has 9,684,747 monthly listeners.
Dubstep bookends the board
Dubstep takes the top spot and the bottom three. ILLENIUM is sixth on 881, Zeds Dead seventh on 878 and Borgore eighth on 877.
ILLENIUM's 8,398 votes are the most of anyone in the top eight except Skrillex, yet ILLENIUM finishes one point behind Andy C. Zeds Dead and Borgore are also separated by a single point.
This is where the real race is. Ranks five through eight sit within five points of each other, from 882 down to 877. Very little movement could reshuffle the whole lower half.
What defines the sound right now
Read the top eight as a map and two dialects emerge.
Dubstep is the international one: four acts from three countries. They are the United States (Skrillex, ILLENIUM), Canada (Zeds Dead) and Israel (Borgore). Dubstep has both the biggest single profile in the family and the tightest pack at the bottom of the top eight.
Drum & bass is the concentrated one: three UK acts in a row at third, fourth and fifth. None of them reaches the streaming numbers of Skrillex or ILLENIUM, but together they hold the centre of the board.
Breakbeat appears only through Fatboy Slim, who sits right behind the leader and, like the three drum & bass acts below, comes from the UK.
The headline is simple: bass has a clear leader in Skrillex. The story underneath is closer. A UK core holds the middle, and further down a single point separates neighbours twice.
