Top 3 DJs Worldwide: Armin van Buuren Holds Off David Guetta by 10 Points
By Renata Alves·August 15, 2026
There are years when the top of the worldwide table feels settled before the votes are counted. This is not one of them. The credit scores that decide this ranking sit at 938, 928 and 923 — a 15-point spread across the entire podium, and just 10 points between first and second. Three DJs, three genre families, three completely different theories of what a global career looks like in 2026.
The summit: Armin van Buuren
At #1, Armin van Buuren takes the crown with a credit score of 938 on 11,940 votes. The Dutch trance figurehead remains the genre's most durable global export, and the numbers behind the score describe an audience that shows up everywhere: 14,613,807 Spotify monthly listeners, 4.7 million Spotify followers, 4,938,795 on Instagram, 2.4 million on TikTok. Notably, he posts the strongest Mixcloud following on this podium at 99,646 — a signal that the long-form mix audience, trance's traditional heartland, is still very much his.
What's striking is that van Buuren tops this list without topping most of the raw platform counts. The credit score rewards something broader than streaming volume, and his profile is the most evenly distributed of the three: no weak flank, no single pillar carrying the rest.
The challenger: David Guetta
David Guetta lands at #2 with a score of 928 — and here's the twist: his 11,970 votes are actually the highest tally on the podium, 30 more than the champion's. The French Dance / Pop titan simply couldn't convert that turnout into the extra 10 points.
On pure reach, Guetta's numbers are enormous. 87,684,123 Spotify monthly listeners and 28,205,283 Spotify followers dwarf the streaming figures of anyone else here, alongside 12,253,645 Instagram followers, 6.9 million on TikTok and the podium's largest Resident Advisor following at 152,250. If this ranking were a streaming census, the order would be different. It isn't — and the 10-point gap to the top is the whole story of this edition. Commercial dance's biggest name is one strong cycle away from the summit.
The wildcard: Skrillex
Skrillex completes the podium at #3 with a credit score of 923 and 11,460 votes. The American Bass / Club shapeshifter is the only artist here representing the bass family, and his profile reads differently from the other two: 6,675,563 SoundCloud followers — the largest SoundCloud audience on this list by a wide margin — sitting alongside 22,231,503 Spotify monthly listeners, 12,083,723 on Instagram and 2.46 million YouTube subscribers.
That SoundCloud weighting matters. It points to a fanbase rooted in club culture and the platform where bass music's ecosystem still lives. At just 5 points behind Guetta, Skrillex is closer to second place than Guetta is to first — the tightest margin anywhere on this podium.
What the podium says about the scene
Three takeaways. First, trance still converts loyalty into votes better than almost anything else; van Buuren's win is a depth-of-engagement story, not a reach story. Second, raw streaming supremacy doesn't buy a title — Guetta's colossal Spotify footprint earned him second, not first. Third, bass music's institutional presence is real: Skrillex sits within 15 points of the top of the entire worldwide ranking.
With margins this thin — 10 points, then 5 — nothing about this order is safe. All three camps will read these numbers and see a path to #1. That's exactly what a podium should feel like.
