Top 3 DJs Worldwide: 727 Votes Separate Armin van Buuren, David Guetta and Charlotte de Witte
By Theo LindqvistยทNovember 4, 2026
Fan votes are a blunt measure, and that is what makes them useful. Leave aside playlist placement and algorithmic reach, and the question is simple: who will people actually turn out for? At the top of this ranking, the answer splits three ways, and only barely.
Armin van Buuren is first with 86,057 votes. David Guetta follows on 85,688. Charlotte de Witte completes the podium with 85,330. From first to third, the gap is 727 votes, which is less than one percent of any of their totals. Between first and second it is 369 votes, and between second and third it is 358. A top three doesn't get much closer than this.
Trance on top
Armin's lead is narrow, but it rests on a broad base. The Dutch trance artist has 15,158,683 Spotify monthly listeners, 6,200,000 YouTube subscribers, 5,037,605 Instagram followers and 1,738,312 Last.fm listeners. He also shares the highest credit score in the field, 995, with Guetta.
His profile stands out for its balance. No single platform carries it. The numbers hold up across services, and a vote count rewards exactly that kind of steady, wide support.
The streaming giant in second
If streams decided this ranking, it would not be close. David Guetta has 81,957,019 Spotify monthly listeners, 28,753,727 Spotify followers and 27,900,000 YouTube subscribers, which puts the French Dance / Pop star on a different scale from the rest of this podium. He also leads the trio on Resident Advisor with 152,250 followers and on Last.fm with 5,185,692 listeners.
Even so, he finishes second, 369 votes behind. That is the clearest lesson of this chart: reach and devotion are different things. Guetta's audience is huge. The fans who vote in a DJ ranking are a smaller, more committed group, and this time Armin's supporters came out slightly ahead.
Techno's case
Charlotte de Witte is the story beneath the headline. The Belgian techno DJ's Spotify numbers, 1,755,352 monthly listeners and 1,476,161 followers, are a fraction of those of the two men above her. Yet she finishes just 358 votes behind second place and 727 behind first. Her Resident Advisor following of 60,037 is slightly ahead of Armin's 58,187, a fair sign of her standing on the club circuit. The data also credits her with 202 festivals.
Techno has never been built to dominate streaming charts. A third-place finish this close to the top shows that its core fans turned out in numbers that rival anyone's.
What the podium says
The podium covers three genre families (trance, commercial dance / pop and techno) and three countries: the Netherlands, France and Belgium. No single sound owns the top of the vote, and no single platform metric predicts it. The DJ with by far the largest streaming footprint is second. The one with the smallest Spotify numbers of the three is only 358 votes behind him.
With credit scores of 995, 995 and 992 and a 727-vote spread, this order is decided at the margins. A small change in turnout could reshuffle the whole top three, which is exactly why the next count is worth watching.
