Top 10 DJs Worldwide: Armin van Buuren Leads a 30-Point Race to the Top

By Sasha Volkov·July 8, 2026

If you want proof that a credit score measures something different from raw streaming muscle, look no further than the top of this list. Armin van Buuren takes the worldwide crown with a score of 938, built on 11,940 votes — and he does it while David Guetta, sitting second on 928, commands 87,684,123 Spotify monthly listeners to Armin's 14,613,807. Guetta actually pulled slightly more votes (11,970), but the scoring puts the Dutchman clear by ten points. That's the story of this ranking in miniature: reach alone doesn't buy you the top spot.

And make no mistake, this is a compressed field. Just 30 points separate #1 from #10, and from Skrillex at 922 down to Martin Garrix at 908, the gaps shrink to almost nothing. Paul van Dyk and John Summit are locked at 913 apiece — an exact tie broken only by the finer mechanics of the table — while Carl Cox (912), James Hype (910) and Boris Brejcha (909) sit a single point apart from their neighbours. Nobody in this ten can afford a quiet year.

The trance establishment holds the high ground. Three of the top five — Armin van Buuren, Tiësto (921) and Paul van Dyk — fly the trance flag, a remarkable showing for a genre that predates most of the platforms we track. Van Dyk's case is especially instructive: his 1,722,752 Spotify monthly listeners are a fraction of Tiësto's 34,282,125, yet a staggering 252 festival appearances and one of the strongest Mixcloud followings in the ten (108,335) speak to a career built on the road and in the mix, not just on playlists.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, is simply flexing. Armin, Tiësto and Martin Garrix give the Dutch three seats at the table — the most of any country here, ahead of the two-apiece showings from the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. Garrix's tenth-place finish comes despite enormous platform weight: 15,285,060 Spotify followers and 15,202,056 on Instagram, both among the largest in the field. Again — the score rewards more than scale.

Skrillex at #3 is the bass world's high-water mark, and his 6,675,563 SoundCloud followers are the biggest of anyone in this ten, a reminder of where that scene lives. Below him, the list gets stylistically diverse fast. John Summit's melodic house and techno surge lands him sixth on 11,130 votes with 12,753,197 monthly Spotify listeners — the newest name in this company by profile, and already trading blows with legends. Carl Cox at seventh remains techno's standard-bearer, and his 259,283 Mixcloud followers, the largest in the ranking, tell you exactly which audience still hangs on his sets.

James Hype takes eighth for house, powered by a heavy short-form presence — 1,700,000 TikTok followers, more than several artists ranked above him. Boris Brejcha rounds out the German contingent at ninth, his 1,690,041 Spotify followers nearly matching his 1,757,643 monthly listeners, an unusually loyal ratio that suggests a fanbase that subscribes rather than samples.

What should you take from all this? That the global top ten is no longer one sound's property. Trance, commercial dance, dubstep, techno, house and the melodic wave all have skin in the game, and with the entire field packed inside 30 points — and a dead heat at fifth — the 2026 edition of this table could reshuffle on a single festival season. Armin van Buuren holds the throne for now. Nobody below him is standing still.
