Top 10 DJs in Germany: The Fan Vote Crowns a Melodic Empire
By Theo Lindqvist·June 30, 2026
Germany doesn't just participate in electronic music — it built the cathedral. So when fans cast more than 100,000 combined votes to rank the country's best DJs, the result reads like a snapshot of the scene's soul. And that soul, right now, is melodic.
The headline is the photo finish. Boris Brejcha takes the crown with 11,280 votes, but Keinemusik sits just 60 votes behind at 11,220. That's not a gap; it's a rounding error. Brejcha's high-tech minimal sound and unmistakable masked persona have made him one of the most recognizable figures in the genre, backed by a credit score of 909 and 186 festival appearances. Keinemusik, meanwhile, push him to the wire on raw reach — their 14.4 million Spotify monthly listeners dwarf nearly everyone here, a testament to how the Berlin collective turned a sound into a global movement.
Behind them, the old guard refuses to cede ground. Paul van Dyk lands at number three with 11,040 votes and, notably, the highest credit score in the entire field — 911. Trance never died in Germany; it just kept building, and van Dyk's 252 festival count proves the road work never stopped. He's joined in the trance column by Marlon Hoffstadt at fourth, whose 7.1 million monthly listeners signal a younger generation reanimating the genre on its own terms.
The techno bloc holds firm in the middle. Lilly Palmer breaks through at fifth with 10,830 votes and a striking 1.77 million Instagram followers — evidence that her hard-driving sets translate as powerfully online as they do on the floor. Right below her sits a living institution: Sven Väth, sixth on votes but first on something more telling. His 281 festival appearances are the most of anyone on this list, a career measured not in streams but in decades of dancefloors.
The melodic family reasserts itself through the back half. Ben Böhmer (seventh, 10,440 votes) and Dixon (eighth, 10,350) represent two faces of the same lineage — Böhmer the emotive live performer with 3.7 million monthly listeners, Dixon the curatorial tastemaker whose 253 festival count rivals the legends above him.
Then come the giants who place lowest, and that's the most fascinating story the data tells. Robin Schulz ranks ninth despite 33.6 million Spotify monthly listeners — the largest audience on this entire list — and 3.4 million Spotify followers. Zedd closes the countdown at tenth with 8,480 votes, even while commanding 8 million Instagram followers and 6.3 million Spotify followers, numbers no one else approaches.
What does that tell us? German fans, at least in this vote, prize the underground over the crossover. Global pop reach doesn't buy a top spot here; credibility on the techno and melodic continuum does. Schulz's deep house and Zedd's dance-pop made them international superstars, but the home crowd reserves its highest honors for artists rooted in club culture rather than radio.
Four of the top ten work in melodic house and techno. Two fly the trance flag, two hold the techno line, and only one apiece for deep house and commercial dance. It's a portrait of a scene that exports pop stars but venerates its purists — a country where the vote still belongs to the dancefloor.
