Top 10 Afro House DJs: Black Coffee Runs Away With It as the Pack Fights for Inches

Afro house has a clear leader, and the fan vote leaves no room for debate. Black Coffee tops this Top 10 with 32,523 votes, more than four times the 7,930 that Dj Maphorisa drew in second. That margin of 24,593 votes shapes everything else about this ranking.

The rest of Black Coffee's profile backs up the vote. The 966 credit score is the highest in the field, and the club-facing numbers run deep: 50,265 RA followers, 383,552 on SoundCloud, 201,676 Last.fm listeners and a festival count of 371 in our data. Add 5,071,025 Instagram followers and 3,354,504 Spotify monthly listeners, and the vote total looks like it comes from wide support across many platforms rather than a fluke.

Dj Maphorisa is the useful contrast. On Spotify, Maphorisa's 5,170,446 monthly listeners and 4,667,177 followers are higher than Black Coffee's, and there are also 1,480,000 YouTube subscribers and 3,827,320 Instagram followers. Yet the vote gap is huge.

The club-culture numbers show the split. Maphorisa's 2,819 RA followers and 41,324 SoundCloud followers are a fraction of Black Coffee's. A fan vote for an afro house ranking seems to reward that dancefloor connection more than raw streaming size. Maphorisa still holds a firm second, with a credit score of 842 to match.

DJ GIAA comes in at #3 with 7,152 votes, 778 behind Maphorisa, and an 803 credit score. The only platform figures on file are SoundCloud (12,942) and Instagram (161,025), so this placing is best read through the vote itself. And the vote is clear: GIAA finishes 1,073 ahead of fourth.

Oskido makes it three South African names in the top five, taking #5 with 6,019 votes and 375,741 Spotify monthly listeners. Around that core, the chart reaches well beyond South Africa: Mr. Carmack (United States) at #4, Buscemi (Belgium) at #6, It's Dynamite and Sam Binga (United Kingdom) at #7 and #9, and Ziggy Phunk (Denmark) at #8.

Below the top three, the race is genuinely tight. Mr. Carmack holds #4 over Oskido by just 60 votes, 6,079 to 6,019. Buscemi's 5,731 beats It's Dynamite's 5,721 by a razor-thin 10 votes for #6. Positions #4 through #8 sit within 703 votes, and the whole spread from #2 to #10 is 2,986. That is less than an eighth of Black Coffee's lead over second.

Votes set this order, but credit scores suggest a different shape. The top four are the same on both measures. After that, the order shuffles. It's Dynamite's 744 beats Oskido's 737 and Buscemi's 735. Sam Binga's 752 is the fifth-highest score in the field, even though 5,155 votes only earn a #9 finish. Among the acts with RA figures on record, Sam Binga's 4,822 RA followers trail only Black Coffee.

Ziggy Phunk sits at #8 with 5,376 votes and a 728 score. Sarah Anglionin closes the countdown at #10 with 4,944 votes and a 666 credit score, and is the only woman in this Top 10.

The top spot isn't up for grabs, because Black Coffee's lead is too large to close. The real contest is everything below it, where a few hundred votes can move an act several places. That is where fan votes make the most difference.
