Serbia's Top DJs: Space Motion Leads a Three-Genre Podium

Serbia's top three is less one scene than three. Melodic House & Techno, Psy-Trance and Techno each hold a place on the podium. The credit scores that order them are 809, 790 and 780, which puts 29 points between first and third.

One more pattern before the countdown: the order follows vote count exactly. Streaming reach doesn't. That gap between the two is what this ranking is really about.

Space Motion takes first with a credit score of 809 and 6,790 votes, the most in the group. The streaming numbers point the same way. There are 631,755 Spotify monthly listeners, the largest count of the three, along with 80,542 Spotify followers, 102,095 Instagram followers and 46,388 Last.fm listeners.

The Resident Advisor count shows something else. Space Motion has 9,502 RA followers, and the only other RA figure on file is Farius's 1,344. RA is built around club listings and events, so a following there reflects interest in live shows as well as streams.

The one small number is TikTok, at 3,775 followers. It hasn't kept Space Motion from the top spot.

Farius is second on 790, 19 points off the lead, with 5,997 votes. This is where the ranking tells you the most. Farius has 134,559 Spotify monthly listeners, the lowest of the three, and 14,774 Instagram followers, behind both rivals. Yet Farius finishes above Popov. The vote column, 5,997 against 5,540, is the one that matches that result.

The rest of the profile: 16,313 Spotify followers, 2,562 SoundCloud followers, 42,737 Last.fm listeners and the 1,344 RA followers.

Farius is also the only Psy-Trance name in the top three. A second-place finish for that sound shows the people voting on this chart aren't limited to house and techno.

Popov closes the podium at 780 with 5,540 votes, 10 points behind Farius. That is the smallest gap on the board. Popov has a case on reach: 209,051 Spotify monthly listeners, second only to Space Motion, and 109,084 Instagram followers, the highest Instagram count of the three.

Popov's platform figures don't line up neatly, though. Spotify followers are listed at 240,860, above the monthly listener count, while Last.fm shows 8,662 listeners. With the numbers pointing in different directions, we won't draw a conclusion from any single one. On the metric that sets this list, Popov is third.

Read the three profiles together and the ranking's priorities are clear. Popov leads Farius on Spotify monthly listeners and on Instagram, but Farius leads Popov on the chart. Votes run in rank order from top to bottom: 6,790, 5,997, 5,540.

That makes the 10 points between second and third the margin to watch. Space Motion's 19-point lead over Farius is the widest on the podium. With melodic, psytrance and techno all represented, the top of Serbia's ranking is spread across three sounds, with no single one dominating.
