Romania's Top of the Board: 56 DJs Deep, Led by Indra

Romania's presence on DJ Radar is 56 DJs deep, and the shape of its top eight says a lot about where the country's dancefloors are pointed: house and techno carry the weight, with a few operators who refuse to fit the mold.

At No. 1 sits Indra, with a credit score of 791 and 5,721 votes — the only psy-trance name anywhere near the top of this board. That makes the lead doubly notable: Indra tops a chart dominated by four-to-the-floor genres while working a sound all their own.

Behind the leader, the race tightens fast. Oscar (772, tech house) and Nu Zau (770, techno) are separated by just two points — razor-thin at this altitude. Nu Zau's profile stands out for a different reason: a festival count of 115, a number that reads like a working touring résumé rather than a streaming stat. On record, Nu Zau also carries 19,029 SoundCloud followers and 2,188 RA followers, the markers of a club-circuit regular.

The middle of the table is where Romania's house identity comes into focus. Max Oazo (762, melodic house & techno) and Lele (761, house) sit a single point apart, trailed by MARiAN (753, house), Tom Boxer (742, techno), and Cosmin TRG (711, tech house). Of the eight, four land in the house family — tech house and house proper — which is as clear a read on local taste as the board offers.

Streaming reach tells a parallel, not identical, story. Max Oazo posts the group's largest Spotify monthly audience at 632,186 listeners, ahead of Tom Boxer (475,258), MARiAN (450,679), and Lele (340,280). But the board's credit scores plainly don't track streams one-for-one: Indra leads the country on score with 33,871 monthly listeners, while Max Oazo's far larger audience lands at No. 4. Votes complicate it further — Max Oazo actually collected the most, 6,842, more than any other name in the top eight.

That gap between popularity and standing is the most interesting thing on the page. It suggests DJ Radar's community is rewarding something beyond raw playcount — reputation, consistency, the live work that a figure like Nu Zau's festival tally hints at.

Cosmin TRG closes the top eight and reads like the board's dedicated craftsman: a tech house profile built less on streaming than on heads-down platforms, with 58,266 Last.fm listeners, 6,567 RA followers, and 2,623 Mixcloud followers. It's the kind of footprint that belongs to a DJ's DJ.

Put it together and Romania's top tier looks less like a single scene than a cluster of specialists — a psy-trance leader, a pair of techno names, a deep house bench, and a melodic crossover act — all clustered within 80 points of credit score, from Indra's 791 down to Cosmin TRG's 711. For a board 56 deep, the top is both diverse and competitive, and the gaps between ranks two through five are small enough that the order could shift on a single strong season.
