Nigeria Rising: P Tee Money Leads a Board That Refuses One Sound

Nine Nigerian DJs currently hold places on DJ Radar, and the top eight make an emphatic point: this is not a one-sound scene. Deep house, house, electronica, dubstep and Afro House all appear inside that group, and the order between them is far from settled.

P Tee Money sets the pace

P Tee Money leads the country with a credit score of 671 and 3,992 votes. That is the strongest vote tally in the top eight by a distance, and the 77-point credit gap to second place is a genuine cushion at the summit.

The deep house name's footprint stretches across platforms: 11,600 YouTube subscribers, 3,839 SoundCloud followers and 469 on Spotify. Add the vote lead, and the top spot looks well earned.

Amma and Spinall give chase

Amma sits second on 594 credit points and 2,369 votes, flying the flag for house. The platform profile backs up the position: 32,200 YouTube subscribers, 26,036 Last.fm listeners and 127,756 Instagram followers.

Spinall is 28 points further back in third, on 566 credits and 2,085 votes, bringing electronica into the top three. Spinall also has the largest YouTube and Last.fm counts in the top eight, with 384,000 subscribers and 152,170 listeners, and still ranks third. That is a useful reminder that position here is not a simple audience headcount.

The middle gets crowded

TXC takes fourth with 478 credits and 1,456 votes, giving electronica a second seat in the top four. The drop from Spinall to TXC is 88 points, the widest step between neighbours anywhere in the eight.

Below that, the board tightens sharply. Cixqo and Veejaystar are level on 449 credit points, with Cixqo placed fifth and Veejaystar sixth. Cixqo's 1,536 votes are more than TXC's tally one place above, which shows that votes alone don't settle positions. Cixqo is also the only dubstep name in the top eight, and the only one from the bass family.

Veejaystar, on 1,241 votes, gives house a second voice alongside Amma.

Afro House holds the line

The last two places in the top eight belong to Afro House. Mide Phresh is seventh on 415 credits and 1,342 votes. Johnny Webb is eighth on 409 and 1,150, just 6 points behind.

Mide Phresh also has more votes than Veejaystar while sitting a place lower. It is another case of the credit score and the raw vote total telling slightly different stories, and a sign of how much movement is possible in this part of the table.

The local flavour

Read the top eight as a whole and the pattern is clear. Five of them work in some shade of house: deep, straight-up or Afro. Electronica claims two seats and dubstep one. House in its various forms is the backbone, and the outliers give it edge.

That mix is what makes Nigeria's board worth following. No single style owns the upper reaches. Deep house holds the crown, house and electronica split the next rungs, and Afro House anchors the lower end of the eight with two names separated by a handful of points.

What to watch

Three pressure points stand out. First, the dead heat at 449 between Cixqo and Veejaystar. Second, the 6-point gap between the Afro House pair at seven and eight. Third, the 28 points between Amma and Spinall in the race for second.

P Tee Money's 77-point lead looks comfortable for now. Everything beneath it is still live.
