Morocco Rising: Mhammed El Alami Leads a Ten-Deep Board Where Only 12 Points Separate the Chasing Pack
By Imani Brooks·August 9, 2026

Morocco's electronic scene has quietly assembled real depth. Ten DJs now sit on the DJ Radar board for the country, and the top eight alone cover five distinct genre families — melodic house and techno, straight techno, house, psy-trance and electronica. This is not a one-genre market. It's a scene finding several voices at once.
The clear frontrunner
At No. 1, Mhammed El Alami is out on his own. His credit score of 744 puts him 245 points clear of the field, built on 5,675 votes — more than three times the tally of anyone else on the board. The streaming picture backs it up: 83,694 monthly Spotify listeners, 7,989 Spotify followers, 3,790 on SoundCloud, and 14,756 Last.fm listeners. Flying the flag for Melodic House & Techno, El Alami is the rare case where the ranking, the votes and the platforms all tell the same story.
A genuinely tight race for second
Below him, things get interesting. DJ Hamida (Electronica, 499), Tif (Techno, 490) and Youssef Fahmi Idrissi (House, 487) are separated by just 12 points — and only 3 points split third from fourth. Any of these three could plausibly hold the runner-up spot next cycle.
Each makes the case differently. Hamida draws 34,519 Last.fm listeners alongside 3,678 SoundCloud followers. Tif — Morocco's top-ranked techno name — actually out-polls Hamida on votes, 1,631 to 1,354, and pairs 12,800 YouTube subscribers with 29,034 Last.fm listeners. Fahmi Idrissi, the board's leading house DJ, brings the strongest Instagram presence in the chasing pack at 11,504 followers and 1,525 votes. Three artists, three genres, three different routes to the same neighbourhood of the table.
Techno and psy-trance form the spine
Rounding out the top five is SHR, the country's second techno entry, at a credit score of 448 on 1,315 votes. Then comes the first of two psy-trance acts: Daksha at No. 6 (410, on 1,190 votes), whose 14,308 Last.fm listeners suggest an audience well beyond what the ranking alone implies.
NASSIF B takes seventh with 384 points and 1,125 votes, giving Electronica a second representative in the top eight. And at No. 8, Illustrator (348, 831 votes) doubles down on Morocco's psy-trance presence — a genre that rarely gets two slots in a national top ten, and here has exactly that.
Why this scene matters
The shape of this board is what makes Morocco worth watching. There's a dominant international-facing star at the top, a legitimately contested second tier where 12 points cover three artists across three genres, and a base broad enough to sustain two techno acts, two psy-trance acts and two electronica names simultaneously.
Vote counts across the board — from El Alami's 5,675 down to Illustrator's 831 — show an engaged voting audience at every level, not just for the headline act. If the second tier keeps closing the gap, and if the psy-trance and techno contingents keep converting listeners into votes, Morocco's ten-deep board won't stay a quiet story for long.
