Hard's Top 3: 429 Votes Separate Sub Zero Project From Wildstylez

By Theo Lindqvist·August 3, 2026

Hard music has never been a genre that rewards subtlety, but this year's fan vote came down to margins you could miss if you blinked.

Sub Zero Project takes the top spot in the hard category with 8,122 fan votes and a credit score of 846. Second place goes to Lil Texas on 7,946 votes and a score of 837 — a gap of 176 votes, which at this scale is close to nothing. Wildstylez completes the podium with 7,693 votes and a score of 807. From first to third, the entire countdown fits inside 429 votes.

That compression is the story. When three artists finish this close, the ranking stops being a verdict on who is objectively biggest and starts being a snapshot of who mobilised hardest. And the platform data underneath these three does not line up neatly behind the vote order, which is exactly what makes the result worth reading twice.

Two hardstyle poles and a hard techno wedge

The genre split here is telling. Sub Zero Project and Wildstylez are both listed under Hardstyle and both come out of the Netherlands — the country that has functioned as hard dance's centre of gravity for as long as the format has existed. Between them sits Lil Texas, listed under Hard Techno and based in the United States, holding second place in a category the Dutch scene has historically defined.

That is not a small detail. Hard techno's rise has been one of the loudest shifts in dance music, and seeing it land in the middle of a Dutch hardstyle sandwich in a fan-voted count suggests the audience for hard music is no longer sorting itself strictly by subgenre. Voters are treating these artists as part of one scene rather than two.

The numbers that do not follow the ranking

Lil Texas leads the three on Spotify monthly listeners with 2,287,871, ahead of Sub Zero Project's 1,227,700 and Wildstylez's 1,072,007. He also leads on Instagram with 326,301 followers, against 273,958 for Sub Zero Project and 205,852 for Wildstylez. On paper, that is a second-place finisher outperforming the winner on two of the most visible metrics in the business.

Sub Zero Project's counter-argument is depth elsewhere: 246,819 Spotify followers is the highest of the three, and 772,000 YouTube subscribers leads Lil Texas's 664,000. Followers, unlike monthly listeners, are a commitment rather than a play — and commitment is what a fan vote actually measures.

Wildstylez, meanwhile, posts the strongest SoundCloud figure of the group at 99,758, ahead of Lil Texas's 84,931 and Sub Zero Project's 54,144. SoundCloud remains where hard dance's most engaged listeners live, and holding the lead there while finishing third on votes says something about the difference between a core audience and a broad one.

Last.fm scrobble counts tell yet another version: Lil Texas at 214,185, Wildstylez at 174,674, Sub Zero Project at 135,048 — an ordering that inverts the podium entirely.

What the result actually shows

No single platform predicts this ranking. That is the honest read. Sub Zero Project wins because more people voted for Sub Zero Project, and the credit scores — 846, 837, 807 — track that order tightly enough to suggest the vote was not a fluke of one campaign.

With 429 votes covering the whole podium, none of these three has anything resembling a moat. Next cycle, a single festival season could rearrange all of it.
