France's Top Eight: Guetta Out Front, a House-Heavy Pack in Close Pursuit

France doesn't do one sound. With 746 DJs on the DJ Radar board, the country's top eight read like a map of how electronic music actually travels — from arena pop-dance to warehouse techno, with a thick seam of house running straight through the middle.

At the summit sits David Guetta, and it isn't close. A credit score of 995 and 85,688 votes put him in a tier of his own, the Dance/Pop figurehead whose reach long ago spilled past the dance world. He is the outlier at the top — the gap to the rest is real and worth stating plainly.

What's striking is how tightly everyone else is packed. From I Hate Models at #2 (932) down to Gesaffelstein at #8 (874), just 58 points separate second place from eighth. That's seven artists inside a single credit-score band — a genuine logjam rather than a procession.

The local flavour comes through in the genres. House and its offshoots dominate the chase: HUGEL (#3, Tech House, 916), Bob Sinclar (#4, House, 910), Matt Sassari (#6, Tech House, 887), and Martin Solveig (#7, House, 876). That's four of the top eight working in the house family — a reminder that France's filter-house and French-touch heritage never really left; it just evolved into the tech-house that fills clubs today.

Bob Sinclar and Martin Solveig represent the elder statesmen of that lineage, both still ranking on house proper. HUGEL and Matt Sassari push the modern, groove-forward tech-house end — Sassari in particular carrying a notably strong YouTube presence alongside his club numbers.

The techno contingent is smaller but potent. I Hate Models sits second overall on a techno ticket, a rare feat for the genre and evidence of how seriously France's underground is taken on the board. Gesaffelstein rounds out the eight, his darker, more cinematic strain of techno holding firm at #8.

Then there's the commercial crossover wing. Beyond Guetta, DJ Snake lands at #5 (EDM, 905) with 9,847 votes — France's other global export, equally at home on festival main stages and streaming playlists. Together, Guetta and DJ Snake anchor the commercial family while the house and techno artists hold the specialist ground.

What the numbers suggest is a scene with unusual depth rather than a single dominant style. The spread of genre families — commercial, house, techno — across just eight names points to a country that produces headliners in every lane. And with the second-through-eighth pack separated by so little, the ordering below Guetta feels provisional: a few thousand votes or a strong season could reshuffle it.

For now, the story is a familiar French one. A pop-dance titan out front, a proud house tradition carrying the middle, and a techno underground punching well above its share. On this board, at least, France's range is its signature.
