Finland's Electronic Underground Runs Deeper Than One Riff: The DJs Defining the Scene in 2026
By Devon Pierce·July 29, 2026

Say "Finnish electronic music" and one name arrives before you finish the sentence. But the DJ Radar board tells a wider story: 162 Finnish DJs currently ranked, spanning trance, melodic techno, psy-trance, house, and a surprisingly muscular drum & bass contingent. This is not a one-artist country. It just has one very famous ambassador.
The top of the board
Darude holds the number one spot with a credit score of 838 and 7,587 votes — the most of any Finnish DJ on the board. The trance veteran's reach remains formidable: 4,762,506 Spotify monthly listeners and 1,224,438 Last.fm listeners, numbers that keep him not just Finland's figurehead but a genuinely active streaming force.
Close behind sits YOTTO at number two, scoring 800 with 7,063 votes. The melodic house and techno artist arguably represents Finland's most credible claim on the current global club conversation, and the data backs it up where it matters for a touring DJ: 25,355 Resident Advisor followers — the highest RA count in the Finnish top eight, ahead even of Darude's 12,440 — plus 1,305,341 Spotify monthly listeners and 155,311 Instagram followers.
Third place belongs to Super8 & Tab, another flag-bearer for Finland's trance tradition, with a 775 credit score, 6,132 votes, and 261,337 Spotify monthly listeners. That two of the country's top three fly the trance banner says something about where Finland's heart still beats.
Beyond trance
Fourth-ranked Tempo Giusto pushes into psy-trance territory with a 756 score and 280,719 Spotify monthly listeners — proof the harder, faster end of the spectrum has a Finnish champion too.
Then comes the bass. Dice, at number five with a 746 score and 5,657 votes, leads a two-strong drum & bass presence in the top eight. The genre's second representative, Melo, sits at number eight with a 724 score and a healthy 5,966 votes. Two D&B acts in a national top eight is notable for any country outside the UK; it suggests Finland's bass scene deserves more attention than it typically gets.
The house contingent
Ranks six and seven produce the tightest race on the board: Jori Hulkkonen (tech house, credit score 730) edges out tomppabeats (house, 729) by a single point. Hulkkonen's profile skews toward the heads — 71,997 Last.fm listeners and a presence on Resident Advisor — while tomppabeats commands the bigger streaming footprint, with 294,161 Spotify monthly listeners and 234,269 Spotify followers. Two very different routes to nearly identical standing.
What the numbers say about Finland
A few patterns emerge. First, genre diversity: the top eight covers trance, melodic house and techno, psy-trance, drum & bass, tech house, and house. No single sound monopolizes the board, even if trance holds the historical crown.
Second, the voting is engaged and consistent — every artist in the top eight cleared 5,000 votes, and the credit scores span a tight band from 838 down to 724. That 114-point spread across eight artists points to a scene with depth rather than a superstar and a long tail.
Third, different artists win on different platforms. YOTTO owns Resident Advisor. Darude owns streaming scale. Hulkkonen resonates with the Last.fm crowd. Finland's scene isn't concentrated in one lane or one audience — it's distributed, which is usually the mark of a scene built to last.
With 162 DJs ranked and climbing, keep watching the Nordic north. The most famous riff in trance history was just the opening bar.
