Fifteen Points Separate the Top 3 DJs Worldwide
By Sasha Volkov·July 26, 2026
Rankings are supposed to settle arguments. This one mostly starts them.
DJ Radar's credit score puts Armin van Buuren at #1 worldwide with 938, David Guetta at #2 with 928, and Skrillex at #3 with 923. That's a 15-point spread across the entire podium — the kind of margin that would vanish under a different weighting or a quiet week of voting. Three artists, three genre families, and effectively one tier.
The trance benchmark holds
Van Buuren's placement is the least surprising and the most instructive. His main genre is listed as Trance, a scene that has spent the better part of two decades being written off and then quietly reasserting itself. The numbers behind his 938 are broad rather than spiky: 14,613,807 Spotify monthly listeners, 4,701,410 Spotify followers, 1,187,795 on SoundCloud, 4,938,795 on Instagram, 2,400,000 on TikTok, 1,738,312 Last.fm listeners, and 58,187 followers on Resident Advisor.
That last figure matters more than its size suggests. RA is a club-facing platform, and a healthy presence there alongside mainstream streaming reach is the profile of an artist who never fully traded the dancefloor for the playlist. His 11,940 votes sit right in the middle of the podium's range.
Guetta's scale, and what scale doesn't buy
Here's the wrinkle. Guetta pulled 11,970 votes — the highest of the three — and carries by far the largest raw audience: 87,684,123 Spotify monthly listeners, 28,205,283 Spotify followers, 12,253,645 on Instagram, 6,900,000 on TikTok, 5,185,692 Last.fm listeners, 2,585,916 on SoundCloud, and 152,250 on Resident Advisor.
And he still lands second, 10 points back.
That gap is the clearest statement the credit score makes about its own methodology. Listed under Dance / Pop in the commercial genre family, Guetta operates at a scale where streaming numbers stop being a differentiator and start being a category of their own. The score treats reach as one input among several rather than the input. Whether you find that principled or perverse probably depends on which room you're standing in.
Skrillex and the bass constituency
Skrillex closes the podium at 923 on 11,460 votes — the lowest vote count of the three, though not by a margin that reads as a mandate for anyone. His Dubstep listing makes him the sole representative of the bass genre family up here.
His profile is shaped differently from the other two. Alongside 22,231,503 Spotify monthly listeners and 7,670,126 followers, he carries 6,675,563 SoundCloud followers — a platform footprint that maps onto how bass music has historically circulated. Add 2,460,000 YouTube subscribers, 12,083,723 on Instagram, 2,957,022 Last.fm listeners and 89,527 on Resident Advisor, and you get an artist whose weight is distributed across producer-facing and club-facing channels rather than concentrated in one.
What the podium says
Three countries — the Netherlands, France, the United States. Three genre families — trance, commercial, bass. Vote counts clustered between 11,460 and 11,970, a range of 510 across roughly twelve thousand ballots each.
Electronic music's global top tier isn't converging on a single sound. It's holding three distinct positions, and the scoring can barely tell them apart. That's not indecision — it's an accurate reading of a scene with no center.
Fifteen points. Next cycle, any order is plausible.
