Canada's Quiet Takeover: Inside the Country's Top Tier on DJ Radar
By Sasha Volkov·August 8, 2026

Canada rarely markets itself as a dance-music superpower, yet the numbers on DJ Radar tell a different story: 347 Canadian DJs currently sit on the board, and the top of that list reads like a syllabus of modern electronic music.
A ten-point race at the top
At No. 1 sits deadmau5, the Melodic House & Techno mainstay, with a credit score of 883 built on 8,857 votes. His reach is broad by any measure — 5,413,602 Spotify monthly listeners, 2,925,180 Spotify followers and 2,970,002 on Instagram.
But the gap behind him is slim. KAYTRANADA, Canada's deep house standard-bearer, holds No. 2 at 873 — just ten points back — and actually edges deadmau5 on votes, with 8,917 to the leader's 8,857. His streaming footprint is enormous: 8,628,070 Spotify monthly listeners, the second-highest figure in this top eight, plus 134,002 followers on Resident Advisor, the largest RA following of any Canadian on the board.
The house contingent
A‐Trak takes No. 3 with a score of 864 and 8,362 votes. His 8,731,400 Spotify monthly listeners top everyone on this list, underlining how far his electro house catalogue travels beyond club walls.
At No. 4, Blond:ish is the highest-ranked woman on Canada's board, scoring 860 in tech house with 7,940 votes and 6,304,686 Spotify monthly listeners. Her 195,300 TikTok followers are also the strongest short-form presence in this top eight — a notable edge in a field where most of her compatriots skew toward legacy platforms.
Rounding out the house wing, DVBBS holds No. 8 at 835, with 7,996 votes, 4,014,911 Spotify monthly listeners and 1,239,455 Instagram followers — proof the country's big-room lane still commands a serious audience.
Bass, minimal and the veterans
Zeds Dead claims No. 5 at 849, flying the flag for Canada's Bass / Club scene with 8,081 votes and 1,919,906 Spotify monthly listeners.
Then come two names that shaped entire genres. Tiga, at No. 6 with 847, remains a fixture of Melodic House & Techno; his 721,628 Last.fm listeners point to a catalogue fans keep returning to. And at No. 7, Richie Hawtin — minimal and deep tech's most rigorous ambassador — scores 845 on 7,397 votes. The most striking figure in his profile isn't a follower count at all: 248 festival appearances, a workload that explains why his influence on the techno circuit remains outsized relative to his 126,918 Spotify monthly listeners. His 466,006 SoundCloud followers and 47,137 on Resident Advisor confirm where his core audience actually lives: in the club-culture ecosystem, not the streaming charts.
What the board says about Canada
The spread across this top eight — 883 down to 835, just 48 points separating first from eighth — suggests a scene with no single center of gravity. Melodic techno, deep house, electro house, tech house, bass and minimal all place an artist in the top eight, and no genre claims more than two slots.
That stylistic sprawl is arguably Canada's signature. Where some national scenes consolidate around one sound, Canada's best-ranked DJs each dominate a different lane. With 347 artists on the board behind them, the next names to climb could come from any of those directions — and on current evidence, the race at the top will stay close.
