727 Votes, Three Genres: Inside the World's Top 3 DJs
By Renata AlvesยทOctober 19, 2026
Fan votes measure something streams can't: who people will go out of their way to back. At the top of the worldwide table right now, fans are almost evenly split.
Armin van Buuren leads with 86,057 votes. David Guetta is 369 behind on 85,688. Charlotte de Witte is a further 358 back on 85,330. The whole podium spans 727 votes, less than one percent of the leader's total. It's a genuinely tight race, so it's worth looking at what's driving it.
Three countries, three genre families
None of the three shares a country or a sound. The podium covers the Netherlands, France and Belgium, and trance, dance/pop and techno. In our data each act sits in a different genre family (trance, commercial and techno), so no single corner of electronic music owns the top of the board.
With margins this small, you might expect one scene's voting bloc to push the others out. Instead, three distinct fanbases have landed on nearly the same number.
Armin van Buuren: trance holds No. 1
Armin van Buuren tops the worldwide ranking with a credit score of 995 and the highest vote count of anyone on the table. His platform footprint is broad rather than towering: 15,152,615 Spotify monthly listeners, 6.2 million YouTube subscribers, 5,030,332 Instagram followers and 1,187,795 on SoundCloud.
One platform does break his way. On Mixcloud he has 99,646 followers against Guetta's 17,892, the only head-to-head here where he out-counts the Frenchman.
Armin doesn't have the biggest audience on this podium. But on this ballot, his supporters turned out in greater numbers than anyone else's.
David Guetta: the biggest reach, the second-highest count
If streaming decided this ranking, it wouldn't be close. Guetta's 82,502,263 Spotify monthly listeners are more than five times Armin's figure. His 28,686,423 Spotify followers, 27.9 million YouTube subscribers and 12,439,658 Instagram followers each lead the trio. He also has the largest Resident Advisor following of the three at 152,250, and he shares Armin's credit score of 995.
And yet he's second. The 369-vote gap is the clearest reminder in this ranking that reach and devotion are different metrics. A commercial-scale audience is enormous by definition, but a fan vote only counts the listeners invested enough to act.
Charlotte de Witte: techno's case at No. 3
Charlotte de Witte is the story underneath the story. She has 1,805,792 Spotify monthly listeners and 194,193 Last.fm listeners, the smallest listening numbers on the podium by a distance. Yet she finishes just 358 votes behind Guetta and 727 behind the top spot, with a credit score of 992.
There are clues to where that support comes from. Her Resident Advisor following of 60,037 edges Armin's 58,187, so on a platform built around club listings, the techno act outranks the trance one. Her profile also carries a festival count of 202. We don't hold that figure for the other two, so it can't be compared, but it points to a live presence that stream counts don't capture.
For a techno artist, those may be the scoreboards that matter most.
What the podium tells us
Taken together, the top three split the electronic world three ways. Trance has a figurehead whose fans vote in force. Commercial dance has the act with the widest reach of the three. Techno has an artist whose support runs deeper than her streams suggest.
With all three inside 727 votes, the order is far from settled. A few hundred votes could rewrite this podium, and each of these fanbases has already shown it can mobilize.
