727 Votes Separate the World's Top 3 DJs
By Devon PierceยทOctober 21, 2026
Under one percent
Fan votes put Armin van Buuren at the top of the worldwide ranking with 86,057. David Guetta is 369 behind on 85,688, and Charlotte de Witte is another 358 back on 85,330. Only 727 votes separate first from third, which is less than one percent of the leader's total.
The credit scores are just as close. Van Buuren and Guetta both have 995, and de Witte has 992. With scores this tight, the fan vote decides the order.
Three lanes, one podium
The three acts at the top have little in common on paper. Van Buuren represents trance and the Netherlands. Guetta represents commercial Dance / Pop and France. De Witte is the techno entry, representing Belgium, and she is the only woman in the top three.
That makes three genre families and three countries, all landing within the same small slice of the vote.
Reach is not the same as votes
Guetta leads the trio on reach by a wide margin. His 82,502,263 Spotify monthly listeners are more than five times van Buuren's 15,152,615. He also has the most Spotify followers (28,686,423), YouTube subscribers (27,900,000), SoundCloud followers (2,585,916), Instagram followers (12,439,658), TikTok followers (7,000,000) and Last.fm listeners (5,185,692).
And yet he is second, which is the most telling detail in this ranking. Someone can stream a track without thinking about it, but a vote is a deliberate choice. By that measure, van Buuren's supporters came out ahead by 369 votes.
The one platform where van Buuren beats Guetta is Mixcloud, with 99,646 followers to 17,892. That is a single data point rather than a thesis. Still, it is the only reach figure in this comparison that doesn't favour Guetta.
Techno punches through
De Witte's profile tells the opposite story. She has 1,805,792 Spotify monthly listeners, a small fraction of Guetta's 82,502,263, yet she finishes just 358 votes behind him. Compared against monthly listeners, her vote total is the highest of the three by a clear distance.
She also edges van Buuren on RA followers, 60,037 to 58,187. Her profile lists a festival count of 202. It is the only festival figure recorded for the three, so it can't be compared with the others, but it shows a live presence that streaming numbers alone don't capture.
What the podium says
Taken together, these results show a scene with no single order. The largest streaming audience in the data doesn't finish first. A techno act with a fraction of that reach finishes within 358 votes of it. And trance holds the top spot with 86,057 votes, ahead by 369.
With just 727 votes covering the whole podium, nothing here looks settled. A small change in fan turnout could reorder it, which is why it's worth watching.
